This was posted on the TR6 bulletin board I frequent.....and thanks for the Cape Cod Car Club for getting this info out there.

Bottom line:  Read this very carefully if you are building or breaking in a new  engine.

Oil is killing our cars

As this has been an ongoing discussion on the Jag Lovers list for the past year I thought I would bring to your attention this web site for Mobil One 15/50

Oil Is Killing Our Cars - Additional

Because the later oil formulations are continually changing, it's hard to know what the actual ZDDP content of a given oil is.

------If you are at all concerned about flat tappet cam / lifter wear, & most LBC's have flat tappets, adding a pint of GM E.O.S. (Engine Oil Supplement) part #1052367, with each oil change, is good insurance. E.O.S. contains a very large amount of ZDDP.

------Though G.M. now recommends E.O.S. only as an assembly lubricant, they previously recommended it as a regular oil additive. I believe the previous article explains the reason for G.M.'s change in wording.

------Although some 20W-50 rated oils are presently exempt from the new energy conserving ratings & still do contain some ZDDP, the exact published formulations are ambiguous at best.

-----I believe that the E.O.S. is a relatively cheap, simple way to make sure that your LBC engine is protected.
