As mentioned at a coffee gathering, here is the spot to watch and/or post a comment if you want to gather some fellow LBC drivers together for an impromptu run that wasn't on the calendar. 

Just post when and where you want to meet, and your intended destination.  Sometimes the trip is better than the destination!

Some of you may recognize that part of this story was in the November 06 newsletter.......

Sunday morning, (22 Oct) Bob Doc, Mark Greenwalt, Bob Frisby, Dave Russell, Bob Huston, and I all met at Tulley's Coffeehouse at Eagle & Ustick to run to Crouch for the World famous Breakfast Buffet.   Horseshoe Bend Hill was where Bob Frisby (in the E-type) demonstrated what “Cat Power” meant, and easily pulled past me, displaying that big grin that you get when you can do that sort of thing!  We rolled through Horseshoe Bend, Banks and on to Crouch to the Longhorn Restaurant and Saloon, where we met up with the Dalzells and Labries.       The Breakfast (that’s right, it should be capitalized!) was magnificent!   Salmon, eggs and omelets to order, it was all there, including some sinful little desert things, and Mimosa to wash it all down with!  Can it get any better?  Well….there is the drive home……     Bob Doc and Dave Russell opt to go through Lowman and Idaho City, so most folks would think that was where I would go.  However (comma) there was a Seahawks Game on TV, and I figured if I hurry, I can get home to watch most of the second half.  So I’m down the road!     No problems, I make it back through Horseshoe Bend in fairly good time, and start up “The Hill”…….  and as I start up the hill, I notice a ’32 Ford highboy, and (with my foot to the floor) I pass him, and get a ‘thumbs up’ from the driver as I go around.  Watching in the mirror, he easily catches up and overtakes me (wish I had that ‘Cat Power’ now!) and I get  “V for victory” wave from him as he goes by, then he slows and lets me by again, and follows me till we are approaching Beacon Light Rd, and he signals me to pull over, so we pull up next to the Chevron Station. 

     “That was the most fun I’ve had in years!” he yelled as he exited the Ford.  He introduced himself as Ken Appleby, and said he raced A and B Production in the SCCA back in the 60’s and 70’s!  We talked cars for a couple of minutes, wished each other well, and roared on down Highway 55.  Ken seems to be a pretty nice guy, and I’m thinking I need to get back in contact with him…..maybe to hear some stories about the ‘good ol’ days’ in the SCCA, but probably to go for a drive!  Seem to me this is a REAL good reason to go for a drive!
