MGA

2009 Summer Tour to Wallowa Lake

Cindy and I took our '62 MGA for the ride this year.  As the group left Albertson's we fell in behind Bob Frisby's red Jaguar coupe and followed him most of the way.  The day was perfect as we made our way through Emmett to Highway 52 and on to Highway 95.  It was greener then usual, I think, this year along the roadsides.  We turned to Brownlee and Halfway, OR at Cambridge.  We were lucky to mostly avoid farm and RV traffic.  An excellent lunch was had at Hell's Canyon Inn.

After that rest stop we headed for Forest Road 39 and wound our way to a Hell's Canyon overlook and on into Joseph and Enterprise.  There were only minor car issues until a wheel came off, luckily not mine but Paul Mascuch's.  Fortunately his fender kept it on the rear axle as he made his way to the shoulder.  A Boise LBC pony express was able to deliver a replacement knock off and all seemed well for the journey homeward.

We had a good time walking around Joseph and Enterprise.  The group had a good picnic at Wallowa Lake State Park on Saturday.  We were joined by several Washington state Triumphs for a car show in Enterprise on Saturday evening, about 38 cars in total.  Sunday morning we headed back home through the mountains.  Cooler air and more down hill, or so it seemed and we were soon home again.  Looking forward to next year.
