Welcome to the Idaho British Car Club Homepage!

Started in 1992 as the Idaho MGs, our club has expanded into an all British car club (Triumphs, Jaguars, Minis, Healeys, Morgans and more) and is dedicated to having funwith our cars, in whatever wayyou feel most comfortable participating. We have some wonderful concourse winning cars in our membership, although the majority of our members cars are very nice drivers and daily drivers. We take trips around Idaho and the surrounding Intermountain West, have an annual parts swapmeet, Christmas Party, Annual ElectionsDinner, Gimmick Rallies, participate in the various car shows, Funfests, Annual Tour, winery tours, and much, much more!

ADJUSTING THE VALVES ON AN XK ENGINE

Hi Folks,  I decide to take on the task of setting the valve clearances on my '68 Jag this week. In the hopes that this might help others facing the same project I thought I would describe the process as it applies to my '68 4.2 L XK engine.

DAVE RUSSELL

On Thursday, December 11, Dave Russell passed away following a long battle with cancer.  Our thoughts and prayers are for Marlene and family.

Thinking back to early this year, Dave told me he knew the 2008 Summer Tour was to be his last, and his condition had advanced to the point driving the Healey wasn't comfortable, so they still came along, but it was in the Toyota Avalon.  We were happy he was there, no matter what he drove.

Late July was probably the last trip he took with the Healey, and a few of us went to Crouch for breakfast, then continued on to Lowman and Idaho City.  When we got up from the breakfast table and asked who wanted to drive on to Lowman, Dave didn't think about it too long.  Lynn Gardner, Paul and Linda Mascuch, Dave and I went on a great ride.....little did we know it was Dave's last.  Every drive with Dave was a great one.

We miss ya.....

EMISSIONS TESTING FOR 75-80 TRIUMPHS

The following was sent to us from Gary Kunz.  Could be good info for you if you have a 75-80 Triumph!

The testing facility will enter the year of all 75-80 triumphs as 74 in their equipment so the vehicle will be tested to the 74 standard.  They will only do this though if you have the letter which is why I thought to post it on the web.  Share it with everyone.  I only found out about it after I failed my initial test and called for an extension.  I called early in the morning, before the receptionist arrived, and talked to someone who know about the letter so he sent it to me.  He did indicate that when the letter first came out they distributed it to all the car clubs.  When I had my car tested the second time the tester knew about the letter but couldn't volunteer the information.  You have to have the letter in order for them to enter the lower year in their equipment.  The pre 74 standard is 5% CO vs. 3% for the post 74 and 900 HC(ppm) vs. 700HC(ppm) so the difference is significant.

BATTLE of BRITAIN CAR SHOW

This event has been a lot of fun the past few years, and the club has gained many new members because of it.  Bryan Connington has made it even better with his presentations on the Battle of Britain, and we all need to say thanks to him for the work he puts forth every year!

THANKS, BRYAN!!!!!!!

Be sure to check Rick's link to the photos from the Aug 21st event.  Great shots, Rick!
